59!

I think it's 59.. it SHOULD be 59 but theres 61 still in my list... so I must've added a new one at some point... ANYWAYS I didn't do half of what I said I was going to in my last post. The things I did with my past month and some: cross stitch, hand quilting, shirring, knitting and gardening (ideal honestly). I also stole my moms sewing machine she didn't use so now I am back to sewing!

Finished:

My froggy cross stitch. The pattern is from sentimentalbaby here on blogspot. The bulk of this was done a year or two ago, I just needed to put in the spider's web and some words to fill out the empty space. The lyrics are from "Pagan Poetry" by Bjork and its very much a break up thing to put on this...and it is... but it's also because when me and my ex first started dating I played him this song after hooking up </3

 Finished:

This pastel striped skirt. This used to be a dress! I didn't want to start on a complicated project right away so I finished up this skirt that just needed some back shirring some darts for shaping and a hem where it was cut away from the dress! I've worn this one a bunch since making it so I'm really happy with it.

In progress:

I cleaned up my knitting machine and got to using this again too! I started making this crocheted underbust cardigan, with the same yarn but I didn't have enough so I frogged it all and adapted the pattern for a sentro knitting machine. The sleeves are knit in with short row shaping using this tutorial and I'm probably going to use this for all my sleeves from now on. I split the sleeves from in the round to flat as a creative choice, but I'm gonna keep my reasoning to myself to motivate me to finish :)

Finished:

Paper mache benches for my little guys to sit on.

In progress:

Paper mache stool/storage container. I'm almost finished with the lid, and I've tested that it can withstand my weight! The glue I'm using is titebond ii & water diluted to be able to apply with a brush

In progress:

My garden! Things are finally germinating and the cilantro even has his true leaves out now!!!!!!

Finished:

Unpacking all my yarn and fabric and decor for my room! It's looking pretty snazzy now and I feel like it's really helping my mental health.

In progress:

The quilt I assigned myself in the last post. I needed to buy proper thimbles and so I put it off for a while. It got to this kind of fugly stage so I'm not sure how to proceed because looking at it offends me.

In progress:

Lampshade. This lamp was originally in my bedroom, so the unfinishedness of it was fine for me, but I moved it to a common area and my roommate is begging me to finish it, but it also got to its ugly stage and I don't want to look at it anymore.......

Finished:

My hair. I shaved my head again! It's always sad cutting off dyed hair because its like.. fuck... thats 90 bucks of hairdye and bleach gone and who knows how many hours.... well.....! You live and you learn.

Moving forward:

I'm going to work on simpler/easy projects until I get the hang of this new sewing machine. I have a really easy tank top flip then a relatively simple dress resizing w possible appliques...

Until next time!

61 to go & mini tutorial for a side seam pocket closure

Hello! I wrote this about a month ago, and then a bunch of other stuff happened. At the top there is a tutorial of sorts for this very 80s side-pocket-opening and then some chatting.

63 items to go

I am 63 items deep into an WIP pile. I seriously somehow had 62 items that were in progress and I decided to start a new one. Some of these projects I started so long ago they don't even fit anymore. I actually started working on dealing with this pile back in August by making vlogs for myself, but I stopped after completing a handful of things, and went back on my BS. Then I saw Vincent Briggs' blog about his Pile and I am now motivated to work on mine again.

As for what I'm counting as a wip...everything counts. This includes: things I have bought the fabric for and already have it planned out in my mind palace, thrifted clothes that I bought to fix but never did, things I started, got stuck and undid it but I still want to make (this is usually a yarn project), and then all the usual suspects after that. After gathering it all I cataloged everything on a spreadsheet to help organize myself with notes on what needed to be done, what craft it is what % done it is, and even what color it is.

Stats:

Over 50% of my wips are alterations...white cat sweating and thinking with a spiral floating by its head

Alterations: 34

Crochet: 6

Cross stitch: 1

Etc: 1

Needlepoint: 1

Knitting:  4

Sewing: 18

# at 80+%:  10

# at 0%: 17

I will use an RNG to generate 2 items to work on*.

When I finish one project I will roll another number. (If it turns out I start ignoring a project I will start waiting until I finish both projects and re rolling then.)

The only other thing I'll dismiss is if I need to buy something that's significant to the structure of the piece. But then I'll buy it that day and chose another number.

If I need to buy something minor like lace, I will buy it asap & start working on the rest of it.

If one of the projects I got brings me dread, I will consider scrapping for parts instead. Hesitance is weakness. (emoji here)

I will be blogging here about my projects to keep my motivation up! (with the tag ufocountdown)

I will determine this number at a later date but I will not be starting any of my 0% projects (I will be adding these to the rng to be pulled when I've completed a certain number of projects)

This week I got.....37- a faux patchwork skirt & 44- a tent dress! I will update you all when I finish those two!
